Hun! You can be pretty... but only pretty for a Black Women. You can speak softly and use your words with care, but now you're trying to sound like a White Woman. Oh, you can grow your hair down to your ankles sis, but don't wear it straight because you'll look like a White Woman. So many do's and don’ts when it comes to living the Black Woman experience. But Hunny, I am here to tell you... You CAN be Black And Dainty In 2022.
The outside world had told us that we must be strong 24/7 and never show that you are venerable. "Be STRONG" they say but there comes a time when being strong becomes tiresome and strong women don't get saved by strong men... they get used by them. All our lives we've been told that we must hold down the family and the career or everyone’s world will fall apart. Hunny, It's time to see if London's Bridge is really falling down or is she just as dramatic as we are when water touches our hair. This year, we must begin to trade in our Jordan's for Stilettos because we can't help anyone without first helping ourselves. It' no longer cute to give others what you don't have to give to yourself. And how we can help ourselves is to start a new femininity journey this month and allow ourselves to completely embrace the idea that it's OKAY to be Black And Dainty!
In a moment we are going to get into what it means to be a Black Woman who allows her feminine nature to be expressed full and unapologetically.
What is Femininity?
fem·i·nin·i·ty noun
qualities or attributes regarded as characteristic of women. "she alternated between embracing her femininity and concealing it"
Similar Words: womanly, womanlike, ladylike, girlish, female, soft, delicate, gentle, tender, graceful, refined, modest, girly.
What is a femininity journey?
Murdock stated that the woman's journey is the healing of the wounding of the feminine that exists deep within her and the culture. "The feminine journey is about going down deep into soul, healing and reclaiming, while the masculine journey is up and out, to spirit."
So, now we understand that femininity are a set of qualities and attributes that a woman exhibits. And the feminine journey consists of healing deep wounds of the soul and reclaiming your voice and discovering your true self. Now, let's learn the Blueprint on how we plan to be beautiful and dainty in the upcoming months. The first attribute that we want embrace is modest dressing. Because our appearance is the first thing people see.
EMBRACING MODEST APPAREL
One thing that I know about Black Women is that we will ALWAYS give what we came to give when it comes to fashion. We have always been the trend setters for the world and everyone wants to see us and BE us. But lately the trends that I've seen consist of butt augmentations, Body Con dresses and breast cracks. There is NOTHING feminine about over reveals your most precious parts Hun!. Every valuable thing in this world is hidden deep within the ground where ambitious men work day and night to find it. We must not allow our bodies to be put on display for the world to see but keep it covered and protected.
Dressing modestly in a world of overly exposed women makes you stand out. One thing that I personally noticed when dressing more modestly was the amount of compliments that I received from men. And sis, I am not gonna lie and say that constantly hearing "You look beautiful" from strong Black Men didn’t make my day; because it did!
So here are a few step for how to embrace more modest clothing.
Step 1: Go through your closet and remove all old, overly revealing, and unflattering clothes that doesn’t make your feel your most beautiful and dainty self. Also, get rid of all your pants and buy dresses... pants are not modest!
Step 2: Go on Pinterest.com and create a board. Research some styles and save the ones that resonate with the dainty woman you want to become.
Step 3: Slowly create a capsule wardrobe that has your dainty "go to" dresses that elevates your feminine appearance.(you will thank me for this later hun!)
EMBRACING A SOFTER VOICE + TONE
One thing the the media has tried to do is to paint Black Women as being LOUD and AGGRESSIVE. Anytime we speak, knees get weak and White Women exclaim how afraid of us they are. Embracing a softer voice and a quieter tone can help us appear more feminine and ultimately allow us to win at the game of feminine appeal. Also, I've learned that men like women that are more soft and sweet. Women who aren’t loud and aggressive are who men choose to marry and conceive with and that's ultimately we want as feminine women right? So, here are some ways to start training your more softer voice and tone.
Step 1: Speak slowly and pronounce every word clearly
Step 2: Smile when you talk, it creates a more pleasant voice
Step 3: Use small, subtle hand motions when you speak...it create a more feminine, soft appearance

EMBRACING SMILING OFTEN
A simple smile can increase our feminine appearance in a time where resting bitch face is a thing. Smiling makes people want to be around us. People feel that we are approachable and friendly and that exactly how we should want people to feel about us...right? One thing that I've learned is that a smile on the outside really comes from the happiness that we feel on the inside. When you are happy Hun... it shows! So, we want to make sure that we find things everyday to smile about.
Here's some ways you can embrace your feminine smile:
Step 1: Examine yourselves and see if you have any insecurities about your smile. Many time Black Women don't want to smile because they may have insecurities about their teeth. If this is you Hun don’t be ashamed...change!. Do some research on what it will take to make your smile better. You will never know if you don't ask Love! There are tons of options to help with correcting teeth issue. Make your smile a priority this year.
Step 2: Invest in a beautiful journal from Target for about $15 and make it your gratitude journal. Find time in the morning (while sipping your favorite tea) to write a list of things that you are grateful for. I smile every time that I think of how blessed I am to see another day. Being grateful and thankful will elevate your feminine appearance and you will be amazed by how much people respond with smiling faces and happy attitudes towards you.
